Five friends toasting with glasses of Alvarinho at golden hour

Nomad wines from Portugal

Some say
it was luck

We prefer to call it destiny and drive. We don't belong to one place — we belong to the lands where wine has a story to tell.

First stop

Alvarinho
Monção & Melgaço

We brought to life the first two interpretations of our Alvarinho: with and without oak. Wines with character, made without shortcuts and designed to celebrate life at the table.

The origin

Monção & Melgaço

The first stop had to be special, it had to be close to home. Between the Minho river and the granite slopes, we looked for grapes with soul, unique vineyards and terroirs — and the people who know every inch of this ground.

Our story

Destiny and drive

“Sorte” Wines was born from the friendship of five friends, united by a shared passion for wine and driven by the desire to create something truly ours.

With no inherited estates or vineyards, we took to the road. We don't belong to one place — we belong to the lands where wine has a story to tell. A story it seems nobody wants to tell!

We are a nomad project travelling across Portugal. We look for grapes with soul, unique vineyards and terroirs, and the people who know every inch of this ground. We're not tied to one region, but the first stop had to be special, it had to be close. Our journey began in Monção and Melgaço, where we brought to life the first two interpretations of our Alvarinho: wines with character, made without shortcuts and designed to celebrate life at the table.

Tomorrow? The Douro, the Dão, Bairrada or the Alentejo will tell us where passion takes us next.

For us, luck isn't waited for: it's sought, risked and created. And when you look at each bottle and say again, “that was luck” … we smile and raise a glass. 🍀
